What is a VPN?
VPN stands for virtual private network. It’s a service that protects your internet connection and privacy online. It creates an encrypted tunnel for your data, protects your online identity by hiding your IP address, and allows you to safely use public Wi-Fi hotspots.
What is MySudo VPN?
MySudo VPN is the most private VPN on the market because it’s the only VPN that’s actually private. It’s the perfect companion for MySudo privacy app since they’re engineered to work seamlessly together.
How does a VPN work?
When you download MySudo VPN to your device, it does most of the work for you. You only need to open the app and connect. But it’s useful to know how a VPN works so you can better understand the product.
Here’s what’s going on behind the scenes:
- When you connect to a VPN service, the VPN application will authenticate and establish an encrypted tunnel between your device and the VPN service.
- The VPN application encrypts the internet traffic from your device before sending it to the VPN service. The VPN service then decrypts the traffic and sends it on to the originally requested destination (e.g. a web site).
- The VPN service encrypts data returning to your device and the VPN application decrypts it.
This level of encryption is in addition to the encryption that the online service you are accessing may use. For example, browsing to a web site that uses https URLs results in two levels of encryption: VPN level and application level.
What does my internet service provider see when I am connected to MySudo VPN?
When you connect to the VPN server, your ISP can see a few things:
- You’re connected to an IP address owned by a VPN service
- Possibly the time of your connection and the port your VPN protocol is using
- The amount of traffic traveling to and from your device.
Apart from these, the only other important thing your ISP can detect is the fact your actual online traffic is hidden from them. This means your ISP loses access to this information:
- Web sites you visit
- Specific web pages you browse and the time you spend there
- Your browsing and search history
- Files you download from or upload to unencrypted web sites
- Information you type on unencrypted web sites.
Why should I use a VPN?
VPNs give you a higher level of privacy and security than standard web browsing can. Using a VPN is the only way you can be sure that your real location and IP address are hidden, online data is encrypted, and browsing history is invisible to your ISP and other third parties.
You can also use a VPN to access region-restricted websites because the it changes the location of your internet connection.
